Cosmetic Fillers
Cosmetic Fillers can be injected intramuscularly to cause muscle weakness. These are commonly used in the face to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines and it can also be used in the armpits to prevent Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Peak effect occurs 4-7 days after the cosmetic injection. Doses are expressed in terms of units of biological activity. The amount of units used varies person to person. Function of the muscle can be recovered by sprouting of nerve terminals and formation of new synaptic contacts, which takes 2-3 months., leading patients to get repeat injections. Cosmetic injections are generally well tolerated, and side effects are few. Enquire today for more details.

Aesthetic fillers are used for volume restoration and contouring with injectable soft tissue fillers. It is not the addition of volume, it is the proper aesthetic placement of product to obtain a natural youthful look. An effective filler should have a reasonably long-lasting effect, but with the face shape constantly changing, an even more effective filler needs to either adapt, be modified, or fade away- if not the face will change and the implant will not. Another well known term is ‘dermal fillers’ which is arguably not accurate because facial fillers are frequently used at multiple levels beneath the dermis. Most complications with fillers are related to the material, the volume or the technique but the majority of adverse reactions are mild or transient such as bruising or edema.

Hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) is a chronic autonomic disorder that leads to sweat dysfunction, this can be debilitating and often leads to embarrassment. Most common areas involved are the armpits, palms and soles. This can impair daily activities. Cosmetic Injections have been researched and proven to decrease the autonomic response to sweating by blocking the release of a neurotransmitter called Acetylcholine, basically preventing the targeted area from production sweat. A common misconception is that the sweat gets backed up or goes to other places, but the truth is that is it simply not produced in the area that is treated. The effects can last 3-9 months.
